A Great Recipe for Meatloaf: Great American Meatloaf

When it comes to making a tasty meatloaf, it all comes down to the kinds of spices and other things that are added to give it some great flavor. This is a standard meatloaf recipe that includes common food items like: ketchup, tomato juice, onion and mustard. Many meatloaf recipes have a glaze topping. This one includes a simple brown sugar glaze. Hereň€™s the meatloaf recipe: 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef, 1/2 cup ketchup, 1/3 cup tomato juice, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper, 2 eggs, beaten, 3/4 cup fresh bread crumbs, 1/4 cup diced onion and 2 teaspoons of prepared mustard. Brown Sugar Glaze 1/2 cup ketchup, 1 teaspoon prepared mustard and 4 teaspoons of brown sugar. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with aluminum foil and cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, 1/2 cup of ketchup, the tomato juice, salt, pepper, red pepper, eggs, bread crumbs, onion and 2 teaspoons of mustard. Mix all of this together with a large spoon or your hands. Place the meatloaf mixture into the pan and press down until set. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of the ketchup, 1 teaspoon of mustard and the brown sugar. Mix together until nice and smooth. Spread this glaze mixture on the top of the meatloaf. Bake loaf for 1 hour, or until it is firm and lightly brown in color. Drain the fat off and let it stand for about 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
