Wines and SpiritsCash Bar Or Open Bar
If you are planning a wedding or other social event you might be asking yourself should I have an open bar or a cash bar. There are advantages to both and disadvantages to both. Read this article and learn about some of these pros and cons.
The advantage to an open bar is that your guests will enjoy it the most. That is about where the advantages end. Guests enjoyment. But if money is no option and you have responsible friends and guests this is the way that you should probably go. But be warned it could cost you.
The disadvantages of an open bar are great however than the rewards. For starters there is the money. An open bar will of course cost you much more than a cash one. That is obvious. Another disadvantage though is one that you might not think about. People are much more likely to overindulge with a cash bar. This means that they might be leaving your party more intoxicated than they otherwise might be with a cash bar. YOU as the person in charge of the party are responsible for the safety of your guests. If they get hurt on the way home as a result of alcohol or if they hurt someone you could be held legally responsible. It is for this reason that a cash bar is the way to go for most people.
As you can see from this article there is almost no good reason to chose an open bar for most people. The potential disadvantages outweigh the advantage. If you do decide on a cash bar be sure to monitor your guest alcohol intake and be prepared to have rides for these people just in case.
