For the banana cake the following ingredients are needed: 1/2 cup shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 2 large eggs, 2 cups flour, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 3/4 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, 1/4-cup buttermilk, 4 ripe bananas and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. You start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Take a large mixing bowl, blend cream shortening and sugar. Then, take the 2 eggs to mixture and keep on mixing mix until the blend has a creamy texture.Ò  The ripe bananas should be mashed using a fork and then added to the mixture. Take the Ò¼ cup of buttermilk and add it to the mixture and mix well. The mixture of flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt should then be sifted and added to the creamy mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in chopped walnuts. Take a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan and grease and lightly flour it. Your baking dish is ready and you can now pour in the batter. Finally, your banana cake with frosting cream cheese is ready to be served.
